Notice on Visa Application Requirements (March 22, 2024)

Part 1: Application Procedure

1, Fill in the visa application form online(https://cova.mfa.gov.cn), print outall the pages of the application form, including the confirmation page with the confirmation number.

2, Visit the consular section of the Embassy directly during opening hours (9:00am-12:00am from Tuesday to Friday, except holidays) to submit all required documents in person and to retain fingerprints. Online appointment for Chinese visa application will beno longer required. 

3, Applicants should bring all necessary supporting documents, including:

(1) Visa Application Form and the confirmation page;

(2) Original passport and a copy of bio-data page, passport should be signed and with at least six months of remaining validity and blank visa pages. If you have expired passports please bring the expired passports and photocopies of the bio-data pages with you;

(3) One recent color photo (within 6 months), front view, white background, in 48mm x 33mm size. The photo should be the same as the one in the application form;

(4) Original Chinese visa(s) and photocopy of the visa(s). Original Chinese passport (for those who once held Chinese nationality and later joined a foreign nationality) ;

(5) Acertificateoflawful stay and residence permit in Trinidad and Tobago for foreigners from third countries;

(6) Other documents required by the Embassyandconsularofficers, see below.

4, Following applicants can be exempted from fingerprints collection.

(1) Applicants under the age of 14 or over 70;

(2) Diplomatic passport holders, or applicants eligible for diplomatic, official and courtesy visas;

(3) ApplicantswhoalreadyhadtheirfingerprintscollectedwithinthepastfiveyearsattheChineseEmbassyinTrinidadandTobagowith the same passport;

(4) Applicants withallfingersmutilatedoruncollectable.

(5) Chinese Embassy will exempt eligible applicants from fingerprint collection for single or double-entry visas for business (M) , tourism (L) , family visit (Q2) , transit (G) , and crew member (C) until 31 December 2024 (inclusive).

Part 2: Visa categories and documents required

1, Category M

Issued to those who intend to go to China for commercial and trade activities.

Documents required:

Documents on the commercial activity or invitation letters issued by a relevant entity, a trade fair or a trade partner in China.

The invitation letter should contain:

Personal information of the invitee: full name, gender, date of birth, passport number, etc.

Information about the planned visit to China: purpose of the visit, dates of arrival and departure, place(s) to be visited, relations with the inviting entity or individual, financial source for expenditures, etc.

Information on the inviting entity or individual: full name, contact number, address, official seal, signature of the legal representative or the inviting individual, signing date, etc. (All the information must be included in the text of the invitation letter)

2, Category Q1

Issued to those who are family members of Chinese citizen or of foreigner with Chinese permanent residence and intend to go to China for family reunion, or to those who intend to go to China for the purpose of foster care. Intended duration of stay in China exceeds 180 days.

Family members refer to spouses, parents, parents-in-law, sons, daughters, spouses of sons or daughters, brothers, sisters, grandparents, maternal grandparents, grandchildren, maternal grandchildren.

Documents required:

FOR FAMILY REUNION

(1) An invitation letter issued by a Chinese citizen or a foreign citizen who lives in China with Chinese permanent residence permit. The invitation letter should contain:

Personal information of the invitee: full name, gender, date of birth, passport number, etc.

Information about the planned visit to China: purpose of the visit, intended date of arrival, place(s) of intended residence, intended duration of residence, relations with the inviting individual, financial source for expenditures, etc.

Information on the inviting individual: full name, contact number, address, signature of the inviting individual, signing date, etc.

(2) Photocopy of Chinese ID card (both front side and the reverse side) of the inviting individual or foreign passport and permanent residence permit.

(3) Original and photocopy of certification (marriage certificate, birth certificate, certification of kinship issued by Public Security Bureau or notarized certification of kinship) showing the relationship of family members between the applicant and the inviting individual.

FOR FOSTER CARE

(1) Foster entrustment notarization issued by Chinese Embassies or Consulates General or Foster Care Power of Attorney notarized and authenticated in the country of residence or in China.  

(2) Original and photocopy of the trustor's passport(s), as well as the original and photocopy of the notarized and authenticated certification (marriage certificate, birth certificate, certification of kinship issued by Public Security Bureau or notarized certification of kinship) showing the relationship between parents or guardians and children.

(3) A letter of consent on foster care issued by the trustee living in China who has agreed to provide foster care services. And a photocopy of the ID card (both front side and the reverse side) of the trustee. 

(4) If either or both parents of the child are Chinese citizens, a photocopy of the certificate indicating the permanent residence status abroad of the parent(s) when the child was born should be provided. 

3, Category Q2

Issued to those who intend to visit their relatives who are Chinese citizens residing in China or foreigners with permanent residence in China. The intended duration of stay in China is no more than 180 days.

Documents required:

(1) An invitation letter issued by a Chinese citizen or a foreign citizen who lives in China with Chinese permanent residence permit. The invitation letter should contain:

Personal information of the invitee: full name, gender, date of birth, passport number, etc.

Information about the planned visit to China: purpose of the visit, dates of arrival and departure, place(s) to be visited, relations with the inviting individual, financial source for expenditures, etc.

Information on the inviting individual: full name, contact number, address,  signature, signing date, etc.

(2) Photocopy of Chinese ID card (both front side and the reverse side) or foreign passport and permanent residence permit of the inviting individual (both front side and the reverse side).

4, Category L

Issued to those who intend to go to China as a tourist.

Documents required:

Air ticket booking record (round trip) and proof of hotel reservation with the applicant's name. Or an invitation letter issued by a relevant entity or individual in China and photocopy of the inviting individual's Chinese ID card (both front side and the reverse side). The invitation letter should contain:

Personal information of the invitee: full name, gender, date of birth, passport number, etc.

Information about the planned visit to China: purpose of the visit, dates of arrival and departure, place(s) to be visited, etc.

Information on the inviting entity or individual: full name of the entity, contact number, address, official seal, signature of the legal representative, signing date. Or full name of the individual, contact number, address, signature of the individual, signing date, etc. The photocopy of both front and reverse sides of the inviting individual’s Chinese ID card should be attached.

5, Category F

Issued to those who intend to go to China for exchanges, visits, study tours and other non-business activities.

Documents required:

An invitation letter issued by a relevant entity or individual in China. The invitation letter should contain:

Personal information of the invitee: full name, gender, date of birth, passport number, etc.

Information about the planned visit to China: purpose of the visit, dates of arrival and departure, place(s) to be visited, relations with the inviting entity or individual, financial source for expenditures, etc.

Information on the inviting entity or individual: full name, contact number, address, official seal, signature of the legal representative or the inviting individual, signing date, etc. (the information must be included in the text of the invitation letter)

6, Category S1

Issued to those who intend to go to China to visit the foreigners working or studying in China to whom they are spouses, parents, sons or daughters under the age of 18 or parents-in-law, or to those who intend to go to China for other private affairs.The intended duration of stay in China exceeds 180 days.

Documents required:

(1) Aninvitation letter from the inviting individual (a foreigner who stays or resides in China for work or study). The invitation letter should contain:

Personal information of the invitee: full name, gender, date of birth, passport number, etc.

Information about the planned visit to China: purpose of the visit, intended date of arrival, place and duration of intended residence, relations with the inviting individual, financial source for expenditures, etc.

Information on the inviting individual: full name, contact number, address, signature, signing date, etc.

(2) Aphotocopy of the inviting individual's passport and residence permit.

(3) Original and photocopy of certification (marriage certificate, birth certificate, certification of kinship issued by Public Security Bureau or notarized certification of kinship) showing the relationship of immediate family members (immediate family members refer to spouses, parents, sons or daughters under the age of 18,  parents-in-law) between applicants and the inviting individual.

(4) FOR PRIVATE AFFAIRS, documents identifying the nature of the private affairs should be provided as required by the consular officer.

7, Category S2

Issued to those who intend to go to China to visit the foreigners working or studying in China to whom they are spouses, parents, parents-in-law, sons or daughters, spouses of sons or daughters, brothers, sisters, grandparents, maternal grandparents, grandchildren and maternal grandchildren. Or to those who intend to go to China for other private affairs.The intended duration of stay in China is no more than 180 days.

Documents required:

(1) An invitation letter issued by the inviting individual (a foreigner who stays or resides in China for work or studies). The invitation letter should contain:

Personal information of the invitee: full name, gender, date of birth, passport number, etc.

Information about the planned visit to China: purpose of the visit, dates of arrival and departure, place(s) to be visited, relations with the inviting individual, financial source for expenditures, etc.

Information on the inviting individual: full name, contact number, address, signature, signing date, etc.

(2) A photocopy of the inviting individual's (a foreigner who stays or lives in China for work or study) passport and residence permit.

(3) Photocopy of certification (marriage certificate, birth certificate, certification of kinship issued by Public Security Bureau or notarized certification of kinship) showing the relationship of family members between the applicant and the inviting individual.

(4) FOR PRIVATE AFFAIRS, documentation identifying the nature of the private affairs should beprovided as required by the consular officer.

8, Category X1

Issued to those who intend to study in China for a period of more than 180 days.

Documents required:

(1) Original and photocopy of the Admission Letter issued by a school or other entities in China.

(2) Students who intent to study in colleges/ universities in China should bring the original or photocopy of"Visa Application for Study in China" (Form JW201 or Form JW202) to the embassy.

(3) Students who intent to study in middle or primary schools in China should bring the original or photocopy of"Confirmation Form for Elementary Stage Students Study in China" to the embassy.

9, Category X2

Issued to those who intend to study in China for a period of no more than 180 days.

Documents required:

Original and photocopy of Admission Notice issued by a school or other entities in China.

10, Category Z

Issued to those who intend to work inChina.

Documents required:

Original and photocopy of Work Permit for Foreigners, etc. And other documents required by the Embassyandconsularofficers

11, Category C

Issued to crewmembers.

Documents required:

A guarantee letter or an invitation letterissued by a transport company.
