Ambassador Yang Youming met with scholarship awardee of Dai Ailian Foundation

On Sept. 12, 2012, H.E. Mr. Yang Youming, Chinese Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, and his wife Mme. Geng Hailing met at the residence with Ms. Anya Reyes, the shcolarship awardee of the year of the Dai Ailian Foundation.

Ambassador Yang congratulated Ms. Reyes for winning the scholarship offered by the Beijing Dance Academy and becoming the awardee of this year of the Dai Ailian Foundation to go to China. Ambassador Yang enqiured about Ms. Reyes' preparation for her studies in China and answered her questions. Ambassador Yang said that the first two scholarship awadees of the Foundation had finished their one year study in China and returned to Trinidad and Tobago. They had performed Chinese dances at several functions for the celebration of the golden jubilee of the 50th anniversary of independence of the country, fully displaying what they had learned during the year. He encouraged Ms. Reyes to take the opportunity of studying in China to improve her dancing skills and at the same time learning more about the Chinese language and the Chinese culture. He wished her a happy stay in China and making every progress for her studies. Ms. Reyes thanked the Ambassador and his wife for taking their time off to meet her. She said that she was looking forward to the year in China and would make full use of the opportunity, to learn as much as possible the Chinese dance and the Chinese culture.

The Dai Ailian Foundation was officially launched on Aug. 8, 2011.  Beijing Dance Academy, founded by Mme. Dai Ailian, offers scholarships for the Foundation each year. Ms. Anya Reyes was selected as the only awardee for the second year after a tough competition with other candidates. She will leave for a one academic year of study at Beijing Dance Academy soon.

Mr. Adrian Issac, President of the Dai Ailian Foundation, was present at the meeting.
