Ambassador Song Yumin Meets with Commissioner of Police of Trinidad and Tobago Gary Griffith

On April 8, Ambassador Song Yumin met with Mr. Gary Griffith, Commissioner of Police of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, in the Chinese Embassy. The two sides exchanged views on safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises and Chinese people in T&T.

Ambassador Song appreciated the tremendous efforts by Police Commissioner Griffith and TTPS to maintain public security in T&T. He thanked TTPS for safeguarding the safety of the Chinese Embassy, Chinese enterprises and Chinese people in T&T and affirmed the control measures taken by the T&T government to prevent and control COVID-19. He noted that the COVID-19 pandemic has certain impact on T&T’s economy and poses challenges to public security. He hoped that TTPS could continue to attach great importance to protecting the safety and legitimate rights and interests of the Chinese enterprises and Chinese people in T&T, and provide them with strong and guaranteed security. The Chinese side is ready to work with T&T to further deepen the cooperation between the two police forces and promote the development of bilateral relations between China and Trinidad and Tobago.

Police Commissioner Griffith thanked the Chinese side for the support and assistance that has been provided to TTPS. He noted that the current security situation in T&T is generally under control. TTPS is fully implementing relevant control measures to cope with COVID-19 and will continue to make efforts to protect the safety of all people in T&T including Chinese citizens and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises and Chinese people. If the Chinese Embassy or Chinese citizens in T&T encounter security risks, they can call the police and TTPS will provide full assistance immediately.
