Ambassador Huang Xingyuan Meets With Teachers and Students Of Confucius Institute at UWI St. Augustine

On May 22, H.E. Mr. Huang Xingyuan, Chinese Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago met at the Chinese Embassy with Ms. Hu Youzhen, China-side Director of Confucius Institute at UWI St. Augustine as well as teachers and students from the Confucius Institute. They had a discussion concerning the future development of Confucius Institute.

Ms. Hu briefed Ambassador Huang achievements made by the Confucius Institute in Chinese language teaching since its establishment at UWI St. Augustine last Oct. In the meantime, Confucius Institute also hosted a series of cultural events such as Chinese Song Kara Ok Contest, "Beautiful China" Photographic Exhibition at UWI St. Augustine, etc to provide opportunities for local people to learn more about China.

Ambassador Huang congratulated them on the rapid progress they made within such a short period by overcoming so many difficulties. He said that running Confucius Institutes well is a noble act that would not only benefit many local people through providing them a platform to learn Chinese language, but also promote educational and cultural exchanges between China and Trinidad and Tobago.

Mrs. Lan Heping, Counsellor of the Embassy, Mr. Li Xuda, first secretary of the Embassy were present at the meeting.
