On Oct 13, 2013, the Trinidad and Tobago Dragon Boat Association hosted the 8th Dragon Boat Festival at beautiful Chaguaramas Bay. H.E. Mr. Huang Xingyuan, Chinese Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago was present and made a remark.
Ambassador Huang extended his warm congratulations for the opening of the 8th Dragon Boat Festival. He stressed that Dragon Boat Festival has been developing quickly these years because TT government, Chinese Embassy in TT and many local companies gave their great support. In addition, Mr. Franco Siu Chong, Latin American and Caribbean Commissioner of International Dragon Boat Federation and other members of the Federation also made valuable contribution to it.
It was In 2006 that the 1st Trinidad and Tobago Dragon Boat Festival was held. Since then, the Dragon Boat Festival becomes more and more popular in Trinidad and Tobago. There are 29 teams, some of them from Tobago island, participating in this year's Festival.
In between the rounds of dragon boat races, there were Chinese traditional culture shows like dragon dance, lion dance, folk dance and martial arts demonstration, which created a very joyful atmosphere at the scene.
